What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

A prescription medicine (onabotulinumtoxinA) that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. One of the most popular and reliable fully customized treatment solutions for age-related skin concerns, you’re sure to be satisfied with BOTOX at our med spa. Expect great results for visible signs of aging, a more youthful appearance and a boost in self confidence!

How does BOTOX® COSMETIC work?

BOTOX® Cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Your specialist will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines and frown lines between your brows.

Xeomin

Like Botox, Xeomin is a botulinum toxin type A, which is one of the effective treatments approved for wrinkles like the “11” lines between the brows and frown lines. Botox and Xeomin work by the exact same mechanism, which is blocking the signals from nerves to muscles, causing the muscles to relax and wrinkles to smooth out. The primary difference between the products is that Botox has an accompanying, inactive protein, while Xeomin does not have additives. Xeomin is a purified form of the neurotoxin; it’s manufactured in such a way that it removes accessory proteins from the active ingredient.

One of the risks with using these products is unintentional injection into a blood vessel. The chances of this happening are very small, but if it does happen, the complications can be serious, and may be permanent. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring of the skin. If you have changes in your vision, signs of a stroke (including sudden difficulty speaking, numbness or weakness in your face, arms, or legs, difficulty walking, face drooping, severe headache, dizziness, or confusion), white appearance of the skin, or unusual pain during or shortly after treatment, you should notify your health care practitioner immediately.

As with all procedures that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection.

Do not use RADIESSE® or RADIESSE® (+) if you have a skin infection until it has healed.

It is not known if RADIESSE® or RADIESSE® (+) is safe or effective in the lips, or in the area around the eyes.

The microspheres in RADIESSE® and RADIESSE® (+) can be seen in X-rays and CT Scans. It is very important that you tell your health care provider that you have had RADIESSE® or RADIESSE® (+) dermal filler.

If you have a history of herpes, you may experience a herpes breakout after receiving RADIESSE® or RADIESSE® (+).

Injection in the back of the hand may result in temporary difficulty performing activities. RADIESSE® may cause nodules, bumps or lumps in the back of the hand and can last up to 1 year.

You should minimize strenuous activity and avoid extensive sun or heat exposure for about 24 hours after treatment and until any swelling or redness has resolved.

What should I tell my doctor before using RADIESSE® or RADIESSE® (+)?

Tell your health care provider if you are taking blood thinners or medicines that can interfere with the clotting of blood, such as aspirin or warfarin. These medicines might make it more likely that you will experience bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Tell your health care provider if you have any diseases, injuries or disabilities of the hand, if you have a history forming large, raised scars or if you have had any other skin treatments such as skin peels. Tell your doctor if you have any skin cancer. The amazing doctor s and extremely knowledgeable staff at DIME Medical Artistry will make sure BOTOX is safe for you.

The most common adverse events seen in clinical studies of RADIESSE® used in the hands include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, itching, nodules or bumps/lumps, difficulty performing activities, loss of sensation and other local side effects. The most common adverse events seen in clinical studies of RADIESSE® or RADIESSE® (+) used in the face include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, itching and other local side effects.

Yes - Botox is one of the most powerful wrinkle treatments available today that can smooth out fine lines and wrinkles in both young and mature skin types. It has been studied thoroughly and approved for use by millions of satisfied customers around the world.

The actual injection process takes about 10 minutes. We will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you. We can also discuss potential accommodations related to your treatment.

Some patients report that being injected feels like a pinch at the injection site. We may use ice to numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, we may apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment. You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines.

The best part about this skin care technique is that you'll feel confident and have a more youthful appearance.

Yes, Botox injections are very safe. The purified protein is injected into the skin using a fine needle. It works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to specific muscles in your face that cause frown lines (also known as "dynamic wrinkles"). When these muscle movements can't take place, the facial muscles get weaker and new creases cannot form.

The effects of Botox depend on where it is used and how much is injected. We will discuss your treatment goals during your initial consultation. Most patients begin to see results within a week, but some may see results after just one to two days of getting treatment.

No, they are two completely different treatments. Fillers are used to plump up the skin, adding volume where it has been lost over time. Botox is used for wrinkles and creases caused by facial expressions.

Generally speaking, Botox is not painful. Many patients compare the feeling to a mosquito bite or an accidental scratch from a fingernail. There may be some discomfort when the muscles in the area are being targeted, but this should subside in a few seconds.

During your appointment with us, we will review your aesthetic goals and determine which areas would most benefit from Botox treatments. We will discuss how many units of Botox would best suit your needs and our technicians will administer treatment at its optimal points; we always take great care to make sure you feel as little discomfort as possible.

Areas that can be treated with Botox include the upper face, lower face, neck and hands. The muscles within these areas can be targeted to treat a variety of conditions including frown lines, crow's feet, sagging skin, or muscle contraction that contributes to chronic pain. Botox does not work for hair loss.

Botox treatments have been known to cause mild headaches in a small percentage of cases. Headaches have been linked to the effects of the toxin on certain nerve endings, and symptoms usually dissipate shortly after treatment has concluded.

Downtime with Botox treatments is minimal; you can return to normal activities immediately following your appointment. However, it is important not to go out into direct sunlight within 24 hours after your treatment as this could cause discomfort or irritation. For make-up touchups or events such as weddings, we recommend scheduling these appointments around 3 days after your original appointment date.

Botox medication is made of purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is considered to be very safe and has been used for decades as a medical procedure to treat muscle spasms in conditions such as cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, oromandibular dystonia, strabismus, and chronic migraine.

Because it can block signals on nerves that stimulate muscles, Botox injections are also FDA-approved to smooth the appearance of facial wrinkles between the brows (glabella), on either side of your nose (nose to mouth lines) or at the outer edges of your lips (smoker's lines).

Botox treatments typically last about three to six months. Depending on where your treatment is focused, you will need follow-up visits for touch-ups (typically around every 4-6 months).

A Botox injection session usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. You may experience some soreness at the injection sites immediately after treatment which usually lasts no more than 24 hours.

You may notice some temporary weakness and muscle tenderness in the areas that were treated, although this should pass soon. A small number of people will have a headache or flu-like symptoms after receiving their Botox injections which can last up to 2 days.

While Botox can tighten skin, it cannot treat sagging jowls. If you are concerned about the appearance of your facial muscles, a lower facelift or necklift may be necessary to tighten this area. Possible other treatments include RF skin tightening, Lifting Threads, Laser Lipo, or sometimes a surgical facelift.

Botox is a cosmetic procedure used to lessen or remove wrinkles. By injecting small amounts of botulinum toxin into specific muscles, a person can treat a variety of conditions like forehead lines, laugh lines, and smoker's lines.

Botox is relatively safe and most people with healthy skin can safely receive Botox injections. People who are pregnant or breast-feeding should not be treated with Botox.

Generally speaking, people who have had recent surgery in the face area, or are pregnant or breast-feeding are not good candidates for Botox treatments. People who have bleeding disorders, heart conditions, respiratory infections, and those with allergies to certain medication should also avoid Botox injections.

It is difficult to predict how many Botox injections a person will need since each body is different, responds differently to treatment and everyone has their own unique needs. Most people have 2-5 treatments of Botox over 4-6 months.

The effects of an injection of botulinum toxin generally lasts three to four months. After that time the patient returns for another injection session which typically takes only about 15 minutes.

If you have wrinkles that appear when you smile, frown, or squint that you are not comfortable with, then you may benefit from treatment.

You should not feel tired after a Botox injection. While there are some temporary side effects such as numbness and mild discomfort, these don't last long.

Botox is a protein. In order for the product to work, it must be absorbed into the blood and then travel to nerve endings in muscles that can cause lines in your skin when you use them.
